Yes, the captain will spend extra time near dolphins when it fits the route, safety rules, and return schedule. On Destin Harbor cruises, the boat may slow down, circle back, or pause in the area so that you have time to see them, but a 1hr or 2hr trip still has to make it back to the dock on time. If the dolphins move toward Choctawhatchee Bay or Destin Pass, the captain follows only as far as the route allows.
