Yes, hats, loose shoes, and unsecured sunglasses are removed before takeoff on a parasailing trip. The crew checks loose items before clipping guests into the harness because the boat is moving, the towline is under tension, and anything that falls during an 8min to 10min flight is not something the captain retrieves. Sunglasses with a secure strap may be allowed, but the final call comes from the parasail crew at the boat.
