No, not every out of state visitor needs a temporary Alabama boating certificate. Since October 1, 2024, Alabama accepts a valid boater safety certificate or vessel operator certificate issued by the visitor’s home state or country. Anyone without one must obtain a Nonresident Alabama Boater Safety Certification before driving a jet ski. These tests can be administered at the rental location for $5.
