When a damage waiver is purchased for a jet ski rental, the renter is responsible for damages over the protected amount, which is usually $500-1,000 for most operators. It doesn't necessarily matter what type of damage it is as long as it's under the inspected amount. If it's over, you'll need to pay for it upon completion of the return inspection.
