For a half day at Shell Island, pack sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, towels, water, snacks, dry clothes, and a waterproof pouch for your phone in your beach bag. Also, bring some tools for shelling such as a small bucket and a one handed net. There are a lot of small tropical fish, and you can bring a bag of frozen pees and they'll eat right out of your hand. If part of your outing includes the Shell Island Dolphin Boat Tour, those items cover both the beach time and boat ride.
