The cheapest way to get to Shell Island in Panama City Beach depends mostly on your group size. For small groups, the Captain Anderson's Seafari Tour is usually the best deal, costing about $25 per child and $35 per adult round trip (including tax), with free parking available at the Captain Anderson Marina departure point. Once you reach about 8 to 12 adults, a pontoon rental can become a better value, especially if you find a half-day rental around $200, since the cost is split among the entire group. Larger groups should compare multiple pontoons against the shuttle’s group discount, which is available for groups of 20 or more. If you already own a boat, launching from St. Andrews State Park is by far the cheapest option, with only launch fees and fuel to consider. Kayaks and paddleboards can also be inexpensive, but crossing the channel should only be attempted in good conditions by experienced paddlers. Jet skis and dolphin tours are fun alternatives, but they generally cost more than simply taking the shuttle.
