Yes, there are a few things to check out near Cajun Encounters if you have extra time in Slidell. Camp Salmen Nature Park is a 15min drive away and has walking trails, a playground, and a historic Creole cottage. Olde Towne Slidell is another nearby option with local shops and places to eat, and Heritage Park has a nice area along Bayou Bonfouca if you want to spend a little more time around town before heading back to New Orleans.
