Wine Tasting Adventure Wanaka and Beyond

Thank you so much Bella for that awesome review! We really had a great time that day and I am glad you enjoyed the wine, our hosts throughout the day, the ladies who we met and letting me nerd out on a bit of local flora and fauna. Can't wait to see you gals next time you are thirsty for wine in Wanaka!
All the best,

Highly recommend this incredible tour! Our guide Michelle truly made the experience unforgettable. She was incredibly friendly, kind, funny, and matched our sense of humor perfectly. Her extensive knowledge of the area and the local landscape geology added a fascinating layer to the day. We loved that so many knowledgeable women hosted us at the tastings to share their passion. We visited Carrick, Mischas(delicious food platter), Quartz Reef, Rippon, and Aitkens(Ian was SO lovely), and every single stop was absolutely delicious. Five stars!

Wine and friendship!

Thanks Peter! I am glad you enjoyed the day and couldn't even pick a favorite! Yes, we had a good laugh that day :)
All the best,

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Michelle! Good variety and a lot of fun! Hard to pick a favorite vineyard. Super seamless in terms of pick-up/drop-off.

We thoroughly enjoyed...

Thank you so much to team Mary, Mark, Christine and Wayne for that epic review and a great day wine tasting! It really means a lot that you took the time to write that and give shout outs to everyone you met that day! We are pretty lucky to live, work and play in such a unique environment and I am so pleased you got to experience everyone's hospitality.
See you in Balclutha! And tell Wayne the jerky was awesome!

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience! Recently, my partner Mary and I, along with another couple—our good friends Wayne and Cristine—joined a wine tour led by the amazing Michelle. Michelle’s passion and deep knowledge about both wine and the Central Otago region made every stop fascinating, and her warmth kept the atmosphere fun and relaxed throughout. Our group visited several fantastic spots: Te Kano, Dicey, The Cork and Cap, The Brae, and Maude, each with its own unique vibe and story. The wines themselves were simply outstanding; even with our high expectations, every pour was a delight.
A special highlight for us was at Te Kano, where Wayne (a former chef) actually swapped some of his homemade jerky with the team and tried some of their version—which, by the way, was amazing! The weather was picture-perfect and the incredible Otago scenery made everything even more enjoyable.
A huge thanks also goes to the staff at every winery. Mary isn’t the biggest wine fan, but everyone went out of their way to offer alternatives and thoughtful recommendations. (I have to admit, I seized the chance to enjoy an extra glass or two myself!) If you’re searching for a lively, insightful, and truly memorable wine experience in Central Otago, this tour is an absolute must. Thank you, Michelle and everyone involved, for such a wonderful day shared with friends.

The most perfect day. My husband and I booked this tour as part of our honeymoon trip and had the most amazing day, our favourite of the trip.
Michelle was a fantastic tour guide. She has lived in the area for 20 years and was so knowledgable about wine and the different wineries.
She took us to 5 beautiful wineries, even changing the last one she had planned based on what we were enjoying throughout the day. It was clear she has a good relationship with all of wineries and they were all fantastic, super friendly and happy to talk through the wines.
Can’t recommend this tour enough, we stayed in Wanaka specifically for this and are so glad we did!

A perfect day!

Haha the Darwin Stubby!! My new favorite quote!
Thank you so much for such a nice review. I am so glad you both enjoyed your day out. Keep my Darwin Stubby cold for when I come for a visit!

It wasn’t so much the wines that made the trip but the tour owner Michelle from Living The Dream Tours that made the day beyond sensational. Her local knowledge, willingness to change to tour to suit our preferences and the little side tour to show us where to have dinner on return made it a very special day we will always remember. Michelle made you feel like a friend visiting her. Hope she enjoyed her Darwin Stubby when she got home.

We lived the dream

Cheers Dan and Alex for that awesome review. We had such a fun crew that day. I am very pleased you enjoyed your day out. Maybe see you again on your next visit!

This day tour was absolutely amazing! Not only did we visit some unique wineries (both big and small), but there was a stopover for a delicious lunch with a very knowledgeable local winemaker, and we also got some great tidbits of info along the way from a very bubbly and cheerful Michelle. Overall, it was a great experience and certainly well worth it!

Thank you Jan for that great review! Haha, yes I know my way around a refractometer. Glad we could nerd out together :)

Michelle is a great guide, very knowledgeable about the area. She is on time and is great at keeping in touch about pick up etc. we would definitely recommend this tour. One of our favourite experiences in NZ. (She is also an expert with a refractometer 🤣) We had a great small group and the wineries we visited were a really great showcase of the area.

This is a excellent tour and is the best way to visit some of the fabulous wineries of central Otago.

Thank you Karla! That was a fun day with a great group. I hope you enjoy the rest of your NZ Adventure!

Michelle was an informative and accommodating tour guide. Her enthusiasm for Central Otago wines, winemakers, and the history of the region was evident and we truly enjoyed learning and tasting exceptional wines, even bought a few bottles to bring home! Highly recommend booking with Living the Dream tours if you are visiting Wanaka!

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Michelle our host was so friendly and attentive to all our needs and gave us a very memorable day.

We would strongly recommend going on a small group tour for this activity. We went to five different wineries and the day flew by.
We tasted about five different wines at each vinery all of which were high quality and enjoyed a great lunch platter which complemented the wine perfectly.

We had very personal service and were even served by the winegrowers themselves who welcomed us into their home. We came away with a greater appreciation of the hard work and passion of the wine growers.

Michelle also gave us an amazing, personalised tour of the area with lots of tips on how to make the most of our time in this wonderful region.

Much more than wine tasting

We had a wonderful day tasting wines with Michelle! We visited wineries and tried unique wines that we likely wouldn’t have if we went to Wanaka wineries on our own. Would recommend this experience!!
