ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Save $12 on Cemetery and Voodoo Walking Tour!

Take a trip back in time and visit New Orleans' oldest above ground cemetery. St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 was founded in 1789. Due to unique environmental circumstances and century-old Catholic tradition, standard below ground burials could no longer take place, and the first St. Louis Cemetery was born. An 8 block area in what used to be the uninhabitable outskirts of town, is now home to the tombs of plantation owners, architects, pirates, a chess champion, a voodoo queen, and Nicolas Cage.

  • Access to the restricted St. Louis Cemetery No. 1

Extremely knowledgeable local host

I ended up being the only person that showed for my tour so I got it solo and I found it fascinating the level of local insight my guide had. We talked about the cemeteries of course but then we went into the local “politics” and changes about the city from the Yellow Fever outbreaks until Katrina and Ida. I would not have been able to understand the city and neighborhoods we went through on my own without the insights of my guide Raf. This was well worth the money and time.
