Situated on River Road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, this treasure of time offers guests glimpses into life on a plantation.

  • House is completely handicap accessible and the mansion has an elevator for guests not able to climb stairs.
  • Dogs on a leash are welcome at Houmas House with advance notice.
  • Tours go out rain or shine. Please note that a portion of the tour will take place on the plantation grounds, so if it looks like there is rain in the forecast, please dress appropriately and remember to bring an umbrella.
  • Children under 6 (sitting on parents lap) are free of charge.
  • Motorcoach seats 24-30 guests.
  • Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome.
  • Tour departs daily at 10:30am & returns by 3:30pm.
  • All guests will depart from the lighthouse ticket office at 400 Toulouse St. in the French Quarter.
Reservation Requirements
Customers booking 10 or more tickets will be considered a group. The cancellation policy for groups is different. Groups of 10 or more will have a 50% non-refundable deposit kept on any cancellations or changes regardless of how far out they are made. Customers are required to sign a contract and a copy of the signed contract is due within 7 days of booking to confirm guest reservations, otherwise the order will be canceled. A final guaranteed passenger count is due 72 hours prior to the tour. Decreases making total due less than the 50% deposit will not receive any refund of original deposit. Any decreases to passenger count within 72 hours will not be refunded. No shows will not be refunded. Additional tickets may be purchased on site based on availability however tickets will be reserved for the final guaranteed passenger count. They had me at "original artifacts." I love anything to do with ancestry, heritage, history of any city. Plus, scenery was gorgeous. We went last week of September and it was very humid/hot. Grey Line Tours offered a complimentary beverage [I recommend the mint julep].
