- Narrated tour at each plantation
Hop in your car and drive to New Orleans Plantation Country to visit two historical plantations at your own pace. You'll be saving money while learning about plantation life for both the wealthy planters and the enslaved people who worked in the sugarcane fields. Laura Plantation: A Creole Heritage Site is focused on the generations of a real Louisiana Creole family, both free and enslaved. Oak Alley Plantation, located just a few miles away, is a powerful testimony to the wealth that Americans gained during the antebellum era. This large Greek revival mansion features of a quarter mile of 300-year-old live oak trees, which is quite the visual splendor. Oak Alley also offers a Civil War Exhibit, Slave Cottages, and a restaurant and gift shop on site.
