Laura Plantation: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site is dedicated to the rich Creole history of antebellum Louisiana. This colorful plantation home provides guests with a deeply researched tour about the Creole family and the enslaved people and features a Slavery Museum on site. The fully guided experience includes the Big House, gardens and the original 1840s slave cabins in which the West-African folktales of Compair Lapin (later known as Br'er Rabbit) were recorded over 140 years ago.

Oak Alley Plantation is the most well-known and photographed of all Louisiana Plantations, featuring 28 live oak trees that are believed to be more than 300 years old, in addition to a slavery exhibit and authentic blacksmith shop. Oak Alley has been the setting for such motion pictures as "Interview with a Vampire", "Primary Colors" and the wedding of Bo and Hope from the daytime soap opera, "Days of our Lives".

The good: The tour guides were nice. Bus drivers were knowledgeable. Plantation was beautiful and informative. The bad: our hotel pickup was late and unbeknownst to us, we were holding up a van load of other tourists so when we got on the bus, the displeasure was noticeable. The driver kept mentioning our late arrival and impact to the time at the plantation. I have no idea why our pickup was late.

Rose, our plantation guide was great. So full of history and fun facts. She was as good as our driver back was bad. Our bus driver was horrible, loud, yelled at passengers to get off the bus. She had on headphones while driving.

We had Elizabeth as a tour guide. She is very knowledgeable. We wished the tour spoke more about the slaves than the bloodline. We had a great time.
