History, architecture, beauty and adventure can be found at each of the plantations that we visit along the legendary River Road. Select your choice of either Laura or Oak Alley Plantation for tours packed with beauty and adventure.

Oak Alley Plantation was built in 1837-39. It is famous for its’ alley of 28 evenly spaced Live Oak trees, believed to be at least 100 years older than the big house. Perhaps the most photographed plantation ever, Oak Alley has been the setting for such motion pictures as "Interview with a Vampire", "Primary Colors" and the wedding of Bo and Hope from the daytime soap opera, "Days of our Lives".

Laura: A Creole Plantation was built in 1805. Let the “memoirs of Laura” transport you into the lives of 4 generations of this plantation’s Creole men, women, slaves and children. The fully guided experience includes the Big House, gardens and the original 1840s slave cabins in which the West-African folktales of Compair Lapin (later known as Br'er Rabbit) were recorded over 140 years ago.

    Don't go

There was no mention that you go to their Swamp Adventure site to wait for other tour guests. By the time we get to the Plantation, you only have about 1 1/2 hours to do Big House tour and see the property. Not enough time to see everthing. A waste of time. Would not recommend.

    Historically enlightening

We had an excellent tour guide in Kristyn that explained the house, the architecture, the people and the history. It made us cry, feel uncomfortable and give us perspective. We relished the trip and would recommend it.

    Great Tour!

This was our first time in New Orleans and we wanted to make sure we fit a tour. Laura was highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. We loved that you can get picked up from our hotel. It was easy and they called ahead to let us know when they arrived. I liked that we checked in at the swamp tour. It was a neat way to see some alligators along the way. On our way to Laura, our driver was talking about some of the history, but unfortunately, because we were in the back, we couldn't hear him. So that was disappointing. However, when we reached the plantation, we were amazed by the information we learned about Laura. Our tour was great. Julia, our guide, was very informative and interesting to listen to. I was engaged the entire time. The most moving moments were when she talked about the... read more

    Laura Plantation

The Laura Plantation tour was a great tour, very informative. The challenge with the overall tour company is there was a lot of waiting. Once we were picked up, we were brought to the Swamp Tour area and had to wait about 20 - 30 mins for the other passengers going to 2 plantations. We waited another 30 mins while the 1st plantation was dropped off and then another 30 mins at our plantation tour to start. All in all it was a waste of about 1.5 - 2 hours our time. The driver was very information and was helpful but just a lot of down time. If you can make it to the plantation with your own transportation on your own timeline, I would recommend doing that
