Spend the day along the old Mississippi River Road, visiting Louisiana’s most famous plantations. You will journey down the historic River Road Region as you make your way to these historic landmarks. On this tour, you will see the grandeur and diversity of New Orleans by visiting Oak Alley and Laura Plantations.

Laura Plantation, a Creole Plantation, has a rich and unique history, from the home itself to the stories of the four women that ran it, one of which it was named for. Tour this 200+ year old sugarcane plantation. Tour includes a walk through of the “Big House” as well as slave quarters. Much of the plantation was destroyed in 2003, but has since been rebuilt and restored to it’s original glory.

    Wonderful and insightful

It was wonderful because our driver, Brenda, was informative on history and events during the drive to the plantation. She was so kind, accommodating, engaging and very funny with a great sense of humor. She made the long drive before the tour very engaging and showed she was very proud of her New Orleans hometown - and threatened her NO Saints football team would beat our San Francisco 49ners this year! resulting in a few boos from us- all in good jest! We love Brenda - she is a gem!!!! Insightful because the Laura and Oak Alley plantations were so rich in Southern history with beautiful grounds to match. Overall an exceptional and wonderful excursion with a great driver to boot!!

    Cajun plantation tours

We were not told in advance that the drive out to the plantations (Laura And Oak Alley) would be over an hour and 20 minutes. This seems like important information for those tourists who may have special needs. Also, our driver, Lorraine, had the vehicle A/C on so cold and full blast, that we were freezing and very uncomfortable during the drive. We were taken first to Laura Plantation for a longer than necessary period of time to tour the whole place and by the time Lorraine came back to pick us up to take us on to Oak Alley, it was 4:00pm and the restaurant closed at 3:00pm. Also as she dropped us off in the parking lot at Oak Alley she loudly announced that she would be leaving to head back to New Orleans in 55 minutes and if we didn't want to be stranded, we had better be at the... read more

    Interesting and even exciting

Beautiful natural panoramas. The stories of these two families are well-narrated and you are listening emotionally to the era in which they were held. They are very interesting stories and the story of the life of the workers / slaves give you a really emotion. The two plantations are very different.

    Great Tour

Excellent day out with Cajun adventures for the plantation tours. I was picked up right outside my hotel dead on time and taken to another tour bus. From there it took about an hour and a half to get out to Laura Plantation. The bus driver Lorraine was wonderful. She gave us a lot of great information about New Orleans on the drive out, what we were driving past and was very funny and just a great woman. The tours themselves were great, the girl, Kristyn, at Laura was really knowledgeable and gave a great tour. The tour at Oak Alley wasn't as informative and glossed over the whole history of slavery at the plantation - which I didn't enjoy. But the house was beautiful as were the grounds. We also had a bit of time after each tour to buy souvenirs and snacks.

Oak Alley and Laura Plantation tours

We thoroughly enjoyed the tours. Pick up at the hotel was prompt and convenient. Our tour bus driver Lorraine was great, sharing hilights of the city as we drove out of the FQ and out to the plantations. The Laura Plantation tour was excellent, about 1 hour which was just right. The property grounds were spectacular. And the same is true for the Oak Alley tour. Right amount of time to be interesting and not so long as to becoming boring. Again the property grounds were spectacular. Very well organized and operated. We would definitely do a Cajun tour again.
