We had a great time at Mardi Gras World. Using the shuttle was simple, the tour started promptly, the guide was loud enough for everyone to hear and clearly loved her job. She was a local and showed her excitement of New Orleans and Mardi Gras. It was cool to see the employees/artists/designers working on projects right in front of us. The floats were amazing and we got to watch them taking this year's floats apart and moving pieces around to get ready for next year's floats. Overall, a very good tour!

    Fascinating Place to Visit

If one can't attend the real deal, at least touring Mardi Gras World gives you a sense of what the event is all about. The staff have great stories to share and the history behind the scenes is very interesting. We also got to see some of the artists at work on new parade creations and that was fun.

Handicap Accessible, Family friendly, Indoors.... it's awesome!

After booking online with Tripshock, we were emailed and texted our confirmation vouchers. On the voucher you have to call them to set up the free shuttle. Considering we were way downtown, this was a GREAT PERK! The shuttle arrived on time and met us out front of our hotel. It had air conditioning and the bus driver was very friendly (parking on site isn't free, it was about $15). Once inside, it's like a giant warehouse. It's airconditioned as well. You walk inside the gift shop area and check in at the register. Your tour guide meets you with some free mardi gras beads and leads everyone into a theater area. Here they have some costumes you can dress up and take pics with! There's a short film about Mardi Gras and then it's time for King Cake! So delicious! Wish I had brought coffee... read more

    We had a great time!!

This experience ended up being much cooler than we had imagined. We got to see the floats being made (this is the working environment for the floats). We got to see lots of old props from past floats. My 18 year old daughter really enjoyed it and now wants to work there!!

    Andy was awesome!

We toured Mardi Gras world for about an or 2 and we learned quite a bit onto how the floats were made, we even saw a 15 min movie that gives us the history of how Mardi Gras World came about. This location is at the port right on the Mississippi River, they have seating outside and you can relax and look at the water. The artist, let me just say WOW. You will have to go on this tour to see what kinda WOW it is, dont wanna give it away. The check in counter employees were very accomidating, they also have a gift shop as well.. We go again when returning to NOLA..

Great time at Mardi Gras World

Mardi Gras World was a great tour. I enjoyed trying on some of the costumes and taking photos. I also enjoyed the short educational video that gave us a brief history of Mardi Gras which ended with piece of king cake. The tour allowed you to walk through the building and see floats from previous parades and see the artist working on future floats. The tour guide was energetic and very informative, however I just wished we were able to get on the floats and get up close view. However I do understand that they are costly and need to be preserved.

    Simply Marvelous!

Don't miss this when you visit New Orleans! Incredible artistic productions with years of history. Watch them in action and see a huge warehouse of floats on your own.
