Oak Alley and Laura are two plantations that are a must see in Louisiana! Oak Alley is incredibly beautiful and Laura has some fascinating stories. Both portray an honest depiction of the lives of the owners and slaves before and after the civil war.

The tour was amazing, the tour guide was super friendly and he was very knowledgable about the property and the vast history of the home. He made it fun and enjoyable for everyone in the group!
This was my second time visiting Houmas House and it was even better than the last! We decided to start with lunch first at Cafe Burnside and omg it was incredible. The buffet is worth every single penny! The fried catfish was literally the best I've ever had and the bread pudding should have some kind of award! After we stuffed ourselves silly, we met up with our tour guide, Suzanna. She rang the bell and started our tour off with a bang! When you enter the house, it's like hearing that "AAAAAaaaaaaAHHHHHH" theme music. It's so gorgeous inside. I love all the stories that are told about the home and its' antiques, art and artifacts. Esp the vampire slayer kit from anne rice! This home is handicap accessible as well as are the grounds. The grounds actually remind me of a botanical garden. Go check this place out and ask for Suzanna as your tour guide, you won't be disappointed!
Our tour guide was awesome. I think her name was Sue Ellen, Bobby Sue, or something like that.
Super knowledgable, super friendly, made the whole experience come to life for my wife and i.
Thank you for a great experience.

Traveled to New Orleans to sail on a cruise. Arrived early to experience the New Orleans area. Chose the Swamp/Plantation combo tour and we're very happy we did. Our guide in the swamp from Cajun Pride was beyond excellent. SO INFORMATIVE. We all thought "airboat", but so happy we didn't go that route. The slower traverse gave us more time to experience it all. The plantation was pretty great too. Amazing sights and the background information was enlightening. Only downside......wish there had been more time in both locations. I highly recommend the tour!
Thoroughly enjoyed both tours. Guides and drivers where very knowledgeable! Super glad we did these tours. Thank you.
We learned a lot on this dual excursion. It was fascinating to tour the swamp and hear the tales of our entertaining boat captain. Alligators rock! The plantation tour was also excellent due to our young, articulate, and informative guide. The only thing I would change is more time on our own in the Laura Plantation museum. It highlighted personal stories from the lives and living conditions of the Laura plantation slaves. We appreciated the historical research.

Destrehan is a great place for anyone's first visit to a plantation. It's very close to New Orleans, only about a 36 min drive. Checking in is easy inside the gift shop and the majority of grounds are handicap friendly. The plantation home itself even has an elevator that can take you to the second floor! Our tour guide, Judy was very nice and dressed head to toe in her period costume despite the 90-degree heat and humidity. Very educational!

It was an interesting tour of the plantation. The bus host was extremely informative and added a great deal to the overall experience. Only thing was that the bus window in front of our seats was loose and rattled the entire ride to and from the plantation.

We took the Oak Alley and Whitney tour. We had an informative bus driver (Kintrell) who kept us very entertained. All the guides were great. It would have been nice to have been able to spend more time at each plantation, but with 2 plantations to visit, there was not enough time. Since there is not much time there, our bus driver recommended we eat at Oak Alley dehli for lunch as it takes less time than the restaurant there. Our bus guide gave us tips in places to see and places to eat while in New Orleans. We had a great time!
The Whitney and Laura Plantations were amazing. Our tour guides at both were fantastic! I highly recommend taking this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about the slave experience on a sugar plantation.
The tour was really great, lots of historic information provided in transit to and from the plantations by Dionne, and then the tours at both Whitney and Laura were great—very different plantations and perspectives for the tours. It would have been better if there had been a specific time allocated for lunch, as we had not been told about any lunch time allocated, until we asked and was told there was no specific lunch time, but we could just have to eat any snacks we brought on the bus and quickly eat something before or after tours at the plantations. Not a big problem, but communication could have been better when signing up for the tour or at the tour, so we knew what to expect. Both these plantations were very worthwhile to visit and learn.
