Flora-Bama Lounge & Package Visitors Guide

The Flora-Bama Lounge and Package sits on the stunning shores of the Gulf of Mexico, right at the Florida-Alabama state line. This famous oyster bar hosts over one million people each and every year, and it’s easy to see why! With five stages and live music from top local and national acts daily, this beachfront honky-tonk boasts the best of the best in musical talent.

Not only is the Flora-Bama a great place to dance the night away with one of their famous Bushwackers, it’s also a great place to enjoy the beach, savor some fresh seafood, take part in one of their amazing annual events, and so much more! Family friendly by day, and an adults-only beachside bash by night, this iconic watering hole has something for everyone, and is definitely a must-visit when in the area.

The Flora-Bama wasn’t always the massive entertainment facility that it is today, however. In 1962, the state of Florida gave the state of Alabama two miles of land in return for the construction of the Perdido Pass Bridge. The Tampary family opened the Flora-Bama on this land in 1964 as a small package store and dive bar on the state line. The purpose of this was to capitalize on the fact that, at this time, alcohol sales were prohibited in Baldwin County, AL, but allowed in Escambia County, FL.

Since its humble beginnings, the Flora-Bama has expanded into a massive complex, encompassing multiple businesses. The Flora-Bama Store, Flora-Bama Marina, Flora-Bama Ole River Grill, Flora-Bama Yacht Club, and Flora-Bama Liquor & Lotto are all owned by the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package, and are all within walking distance of each other.
