River Safaris & Gulf Charters Activities

River Safaris & Gulf Charters was incorporated in 1982 but was in operation for about 4 years prior to that date. The river tour business was, in the beginning, simply set up to take people out to a restaurant called the Crow's Nest, located on an island at the mouth of the Homosassa River on the Gulf of Mexico. Even though the the restaurant has been closed for many years the river tour business has thrived on the Homosassa River. River Safaris went on to develop historically narrated tours, manatee swim and viewing trips, airboat rides and we have performed many marriages on our tour boats. We have also accompanied many families and friends to spread ashes and commemorate the lives of those who have passed. River Safaris and Gulf Charters, Inc. is located at 10823 W. Yulee Drive in Old Homosassa Florida on a waterway that leads to the main Homosassa River passing Monkey Island. The location is tropical with plenty of room for parking. The rental boats, pontoon boats and airboats are on site as well as the Pepper Creek Pottery, and River Safaris Gift Shop. Sal, Mo, and Nella, our american alligators also have a special home here. We let them stay in a chain link fenced pen where they are safe. The alligators were about 3 feet long when they first arrived from a farm to live with us. You'll see that they have grown a bit in the past 6 years. The alligator exhibit is free of charge.
