The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

Our Lovely Day at the Audubon Zoo

How did you discover this activity?

Our friends told us about the zoo, and since it is ranked among the top 10 zoos in America, we decided to go, and found that TripShock had a discount.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked two days before.

Why did you choose this activity?

It was recommended by many as a must-see site in NOLA.

How did you get to the activity location?

We took a cable car from the French Quarter.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

Everyone was very pleasant.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

My friend has a very hard time walking and does not handle the heat very well, but she really wanted to see the zoo, because we had heard so much about it. I was concerned that once we got there she would not be able to stay long, which is why the discounted tickets were a big help. Luckily, they had electric scooters there.

Since it was on a Thursday and the schools had started back, it was not crowded at all. There were maybe 50 people in the whole zoo, so we decided that all three of us could rent the scooters. It was a blast, and the motion of zooming around gave us a light breeze! There were mist machines around and even a little place you could take your shoes off and wade in the water. It was a great way to beat the heat. Also, the frozen bananas were yummy!

The detail of the landscape was so pretty. It was Disneyland quality! The moss-covered trees and the iron gates gave it that NOLA style. The animal exhibits were spacious, and there was plenty of room for them to be animals. Most of the animals there were born in captivity, so they do not know what it is like to live in the wild. No need to feel sorry for these animals, they are living the life!

The lion and gorilla exhibits had helpers that could answer questions. Beware of the lion encounter, the lion actually tried to attack us through the glass! It was a little scary, but super cool.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

Yes, it was a lovely day. Not just because of the animals, but the zoo itself is beautiful!
