The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

Effortlessly Skimming the Water at 50 mph

How did you discover this activity?

Found Tripshock on Google when searching for “Jet Ski Rentals Gulf Shores”.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

I booked it the night before.

Why did you choose this activity?

My kids had never ridden on a Waverunner and I thought they would really enjoy it.

How did you get to the activity location?

Clicked the address in my confirmation and loaded up Google Maps it was pretty much a straight shot. It was about 20 mins from Ft. Morgan.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The staff was very friendly. We showed up an hour early for our reservation, as requested by our confirmation. We had plenty of time to go through the safety and orientation requirements. Once this was over they allowed us to go out a few minutes early as a thank you.

Once out on the water we were told that there was an associate patrolling the waters looking out for any signs of trouble. For the first hour we never even noticed he was around. We then got a little brave weaving between some large wakes and dumped ourselves off of the craft.

Before we could even swim our way back to the craft, he was there asking if we were OK and seeing if we needed assistance. Once he figured out everything was fine, he began laughing along with us. Once we were safely back on the jet ski he was gone again. Very nice young man and very quick to check on us.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

We live in a land locked state. Sure we have a few large lakes around for watersports, but they are usually so packed with anglers. We feel guilty to go blasting around on a personal water craft. My kids are into biking, karting, and ATVs so I thought that going waverunning would be right up their alley.

Once we were on the water the low speed instability of the craft scared them a bit. After getting out of the marina it was an entirely different story. I slowly accelerated at first until I got the waverunner up on plane. Once they felt how stable it was their attitudes completely changed. “Hit that wave, do a donut, go faster!”. These are the shouts I began to hear.

We took off into the cove and the water turned to glass. I really opened the throttle and we effortlessly skimmed the water at 50 mph. The kids loved it. While in the cove, we turned about to make another run and saw a pod of dolphins. We killed the engine and just floated for a good 20 minutes surrounded by dolphins. After the dolphins made their way, we fired up the engine again and blasted back out of the cove.

I had my Go-Pro facing behind me to see their reactions. Wow, those screen shots are going up at their weddings.

Great Trip, So glad I decided to take them out on the water.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

Do not regret this decision at all. Kids had a blast, captured some great video and was able to see dolphins up close and personal. Like I stated above, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The price was the best in the area.

It really allowed me to spend some quality time with my kids doing something they have never done before. We go to this area for vacation every few years and we will definitely be looking up Alabama Extreme when we return. Bravo everyone for a great outing!
