The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

Thankful for the Memories Made on our Dolphin Cruise

How did you discover this activity?

I was researching things to do in Orange Beach, Alabama. My family and I knew we wanted to try and see dolphins, but we didn’t know what companies were out there. As I was searching Google, I came across this cruise through TripShock. The cruise was very reasonably priced and had a 98% success rate at locating dolphins. Without a second thought, my family I all booked.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked one week in advance, because we decided to take a last-minute weekend trip to Orange Beach.

Why did you choose this activity?

Recently, my family and I spent an entire week in Fort Morgan, Alabama. While in the Gulf, we saw some dolphins in the distance. When we decided to book a last minute trip to Orange Beach a few weeks later, I knew we needed to see dolphins. The kids were so excited at seeing them from a distance a few weeks previously, so I knew they would really love to do a dolphin cruise.

When I was researching dolphin cruises in Orange Beach, I immediately came to settle on the Sunny Lady tour because of its success rate at finding dolphins. The last thing I wanted to do was book a cruise that resulted in not seeing any dolphins.

How did you get to the activity location?

Since this tour was located at The Wharf, it was just 3 miles away from where we were staying. It was so easy to get to.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

As soon as we stepped foot on the boat, we were welcomed by the entire crew. We were told what to expect every step of the way. There were staff members at all sections of the boat, and they were available to answer any questions, and help make sure we got a really good view of the dolphins.

The captain narrated almost all of our cruise. He filled us in on all of the local sites and facts about the area. As we approached dolphins, he was very clear as to where we would see them. The crew provided Cheetos to everybody on the boat, so we could feed the seagulls, also.

As the cruise was headed back into port, he invited all the children to go upstairs and take a turn at steering the boat. As we went to disembark the boat, we were told exactly where to go. We were treated very courteously, and were kept informed throughout the entire excursion.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

There were 8 members of my family, spanning 3 generations, that went on this dolphin cruise. For all of us, it was the first time doing a dolphin sightseeing cruise. This trip will be one of my favorite memories because not only did I see my kids’ joy at seeing dolphins, I also got to experience it with my parents.

As soon as we stepped on to the boat, we were treated so well and we felt safe. Within 20 minutes of leaving the dock, we saw dolphins. We saw more dolphins than I ever imagined we would on a cruise. I did not realize there were so many in the area.

We were able to take off across open water and see beautiful yachts, homes, and get a history of the area. As the cruise was being narrated, we were seeing dolphins and seagulls everywhere. Once we reached the halfway point and came back, we then were able to feed the seagulls that had been following the boat for most of the trip.

My son is generally afraid to be on the water, but he had no trouble going up to the railing and taking in the entire experience of this trip. That alone made me extremely happy. Then, after seeing dolphins and feeding seagulls, my kids were able to go upstairs and take a turn at steering the boat.

They were also able to interact and hold the captain’s macaw. There were so many photo opportunities and video opportunities for our family on this excursion. I will be forever thankful for all of the memories I was able to make and document.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

This activity would appeal to anybody that likes to be out on the water, or anybody that would like to see local wildlife up close. I would recommend it any groups and any ages.
