We Loved the Marshmallow-Eating Alligators on our Tour

How did you discover this activity?

My kids and I planned a last minute trip to New Orleans, and we wanted the bayou to be a part of the experience. I was searching the Internet for the cheapest airboat swamp tours I could find, and found TripShock by accident. I had never heard of this site, but was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what we wanted at the lowest price I could find!

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked our tour on a Friday night and went on our tour the following Monday.

Why did you choose this activity?

We live in Colorado and love experiencing different environments when we travel. This was our first trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, so visiting the swamp seemed like the perfect thing to do! We got to see so many alligators in their natural habitat!

How did you get to the activity location?

We could have taken an Uber or Lyft there and back, but we rented a car instead, because it was a cheaper option and gave us some flexibility.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The staff was very nice and informative.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

The best part of our swamp airboat ride was getting to see alligators in the water. We stopped and the alligators swam up to the boat, especially when a marshmallow was thrown to them. It was so much fun getting to hold a baby alligator on board!

I’m not certain that this is something that happens when you are on the regular pontoon boats. We’ll never forget the beauty of the swamps and the way the breeze cooled us down whenever the airboat picked up speed. It was a really hot day! I only wish we had gone even faster!

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

I would definitely recommend the airboat ride to anyone who wants to see the swamps of LA. I would also recommend upgrading to the smaller boat, because we were on the large boat that didn’t have stadium seating, so you couldn’t see in front of the boat.
