The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

The Zoo Harvests Their Own Honey from the Alligator Swamps!

How did you discover this activity?

My family and I wanted to visit the Audubon zoo again. I googled zoo tickets and Tripshock came up. I had never heard of it. I priced tickets and it was almost half the price of the actual zoo website. The zoo was very clean and the Cyprus cafe had really good catfish. I will definitely go back again and use Tripshock to book.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked one week in advance.

Why did you choose this activity?

We haven’t been to the zoo in years and the kids wanted to go. So did my husband and me.

How did you get to the activity location?

We drove to the zoo in a little under an hour.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The zoo staff were friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable and eager to interact with us.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

We went on a Sunday morning and all the animals were Roaming around. The most memorable part of our zoo experience was the animals. We were able to see three giraffes, two elephants, the lions, a tiger, a jaguar, flamingos, three lounging apes, beautiful tropical birds, plenty of alligators, two black bears, lizards, snakes, fish, and so many more. There were exhibits set up all through the walkways and trails. We were amazed at all the sites. The zoo now harvests their own honey from the alligator swamps. We watched the bees hard at work in one exhibit. They collect the honey and bottle it and sell it right at the zoo. All the proceeds go back into the zoo. We bought two bottles and it is amazingly tasty and fresh. We also got to talk to some nice ladies who raise caterpillars up to beautiful butterflies. They even showed us a neat enclosure we could make ourselves at home with a mesh laundry basket and a milk weed plant. We sat down and ate at the Cyprus Knee Cafe and had great fried catfish as we watched the alligators pass by us. Our day was unforgettable and we took lots of pics to show everyone.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

Yes, this zoo trip was great for everyone of all ages. We all enjoyed ourselves.
