The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

Red Snapper for Dinner

How did you discover this activity?

We found TripShock on recommendation from a friend while searching for a deep sea fishing charter.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked the day before our excursion.

Why did you choose this activity?

We wanted an affordable deep sea fishing trip for us and our two teenage kids. It was red snapper season while we were in Orange Beach, and we had never been fishing for red snapper.

How did you get to the activity location?

Getting to the marina was a very short drive from our condo. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to find where we needed to go.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The Captain and deckhands were great. They were friendly and efficient and handled the 32 passengers on our trip with ease. The captain and deckhands were great about telling us when to adjust the depth at which we were fishing. It made for a very productive trip and everyone was catching fish thanks to their advice.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

We started our adventure at the marina getting introduced to the crew and learning about the Outcast and its amenities. They instructed us on where to put our coolers and bags, as well as where all of the lifejackets were located. Once we boarded we were able to choose seats from the benches down the sides and the inside cabin.

The boat is large enough that even with 32 passengers, in addition to the crew, it did not feel crowded. The ride out to our fishing spot was sunny and a great experience to start off our trip. All 32 of us were able to fish at the same time, so everyone was able to fish as much as they liked.

Being able to catch large red snapper and take them home for dinner and sharing with family was the best part of the trip! Having the deckhands filet all of our fish for us when we returned to the marina was an added bonus. The super low price they charge for doing that was well worth it. Their experience ensured we got the biggest possible yield from each of the fish.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

Having two teenagers in addition to my husband and myself, being able to afford a deep sea fishing charter is hard. We were disappointed to find that we could not find a private fishing charter for less than $1000 for the four of us.

While on our July vacation, we met a woman whose family had taken a trip with the Outcast a few days earlier. She could not say enough great things about the boat, the crew, and the experience. We were convinced by her rave reviews, and booked the Outcast for a morning trip the next day.

We were very excited to find that there was an affordable option like the Outcast. We had heard nightmare stories of constantly tangled lines and having to share fishing poles from others about party boat type fishing charters. Having heard these stories, we had always been very leery of taking a party boat charter.

We are so glad we listened to her about the Outcast deep sea fishing charter. She was so right! The Outcast has made us believers in party boat charters. We will definitely be doing a trip with them again on our next vacation to the Gulf Shores area. We will also be recommending the Outcast to our friends and to anyone who asks about charter fishing in the Gulf.

We recommend utilizing the cabin on the ride out and in. The air conditioning helps keep you cool and also helps settle your stomach if you have any tendency toward sea-sickness.
