The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

My Daughter and I Pet Snakes at the Zoo

How did you discover this activity?

My daughter wanted a weekend getaway for her Sweet 16 in New Orleans. We decided on the Audubon Zoo as her birthday activity. While searching online for coupons, I found discounted tickets at TripShock.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

I booked our zoo trip about a week in advance.

Why did you choose this activity?

I chose the zoo because my daughter is an animal-lover, and she had never been, although we live less than two hours away. The zoo has always had good reviews, and has lots of different animals to see. Also, we had friends meet up with us. This was a family-friendly event that everyone could enjoy!

How did you get to the activity location?

The zoo was located about 20 minutes from our hotel in the French Quarter. The drive was nice, and the architecture was very beautiful. We enjoyed the scenery, but it was just a quick car ride to our destination.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The zoo staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to pet snakes and ask questions.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

Upon walking into the Audubon Zoo we were greeted with friendly faces. We decided to grab a bite to eat before our walk. The Flamingo Cafe is located at the front entrance, which is very convenient. Our nachos were huge!

After eating, we followed the map given to us at the gate to view the different enclosures. The zoo is themed by countries with their corresponding animals. My favorite sculpture was a huge concrete Buddha, right there in the front of Asia. We all took photos. There were also snakes in Asia that were available to touch.

As we made our way through the other parts of the zoo, I found the Louisiana Swamp attraction to be very unique, with gators swimming around. My favorite theme was South America. It had lots of information about the Mayans and their history. There was a Mayan Temple for kids to play on, as well.

I also enjoyed the reptile exhibit, which was a big room to walk through and view the animals in their habitats. We got ice cream on the way out, and hit the gift shop. I was pleasantly surprised by the items and prices in the shop! It took us about 4 hours from start to finish to walk the zoo and shop!

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

I would recommend the zoo in New Orleans to any group of people. It’s family-friendly, and also fun as a date idea for adults. There’s food, snacks, gifts, and a lot to see and learn!
