The Activity we Experienced
What we chose to do
Our Bonding Parasailing Experience
How did you discover this activity?
We did a Google search for things to do in Destin. Our 16-year-old mentioned wanting to go parasailing, but we thought it would be too expensive or that our little kids wouldn’t be able to participate.
Just to see, I clicked on the link and was very pleasantly surprised to see that not only could our whole family participate, but there was also a special going on.
It was affordable for all seven of us to do it.
When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?
We booked our adventure the morning of.
Why did you choose this activity?
Parasailing is something we’ve wanted to try for years, but after multiple fail videos of people running and wiping out on the beach then being dragged by the boat before liftoff, I never really looked into it.
Our 16-year-old mentioned it a few times, so I wanted to check it out.
The crew was amazing! You take off and land safely and effortlessly from the seated position right from the back of the boat. It truly is just like floating.
How did you get to the activity location?
The harbor was only 2.5 miles from our condo, so it was a short five-minute drive away. Parking was simple.
What was your experience with the activity’s staff?
Our crew was incredible. There was a small glitch with the parachute at first attempt, but they handled it like professionals by very quickly changing to a new parachute. They kept reassuring us that safety was the first priority.
Despite the minor issue, I was very at ease and felt comfortable that we were in good hands! They talk to us while we were on the boat ride, telling jokes, and even talking about the best local seafood restaurants to visit and places to go with the kids.
It wasn’t just a typical ride, they really took the time to talk to us.
Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?
As a parent, we are always hoping to give our kids memories that will stay with them for life and that are bonding experiences for them.
It’s not always easy to find something that all the kids will enjoy, but this was it. Every single one of them loved the boat ride and being on the water listening to music when they weren’t in the air.
The nervous excitement in my little one’s face that turned into complete exhilaration while he was soaring away was priceless.
I got to share a full 12 minutes literally flying with my 10-year-old daughter and talking to her while the absolute tranquility of the quiet, cool air surrounded us. She started to cry and said they were happy tears.
I saw my 12-year-old, who can be a bit sulky at times, smile the BIGGEST and most genuine smile I’ve seen in a long time. Our 16 and 19-year-old boys talked more than I’ve heard them speak in the past few months, and they can’t wait to try it in other places. They said it was SICK!
My husband and I were both speechless and so grateful for this amazing family experience.
Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?
This was the perfect activity for our family of seven. All five of the kids were able to participate, and it was fun for all of them!
