We Had a Fantastic Time on Our 8-Hour Deep Sea Fishing Trip

How did you discover this activity?

We had a fantastic day on the Gulf on our 8-hour deep sea fishing trip this week! The boat was Tropical Winds with captain Steve Allen, and the guys on the deck, Brody and Jack, were just amazing! They were fun, great at helping us with taking off the catch, identifying fish, and also helping with bait, if needed.

We dropped and reeled all day! There was never a dull moment. If you wanted to rest, you better get your line out of the water! We were in the fish at every location. I forgot how physical this was, but it was just fabulous.

My father and son both had a wonderful time, and there was one other family group there. It was not crowded at all, and we had lots of space to move around when the boat was moving. They wasted NO time getting our lines in the water fast.

We took home a ton of fish, and had a harbor-side restaurant cook some of our catch before we ever left. Dewey Destin’s did a great job with that. Brody and Jack also filleted our catch before we left the dock. Don’t forget to bring coolers for your catch! I will use these guys again! I highly recommend them.

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

I booked this fishing trip one week in advance.

Why did you choose this activity?

We had used this service before, but many years ago. It was a great time then, as well.

How did you get to the activity location?

I used Google to get to the marina in Destin, Florida.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

The staff was super helpful, and they were especially helpful for my 76-year-old dad who loves to fish, but doesn’t get around as easily as he used to.

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

We caught a variety of fish. One wrangler had his snapper chomped in half by a shark as he reeled it up. That was cool! Also, we saw dolphins as we traveled 20 miles out to sea to fish. They were right beside the boat!

I loved the time I spent with my family, and getting to know the crew and other families on the trip. We never stopped reeling them in. I do wish I understood exactly what we were fishing for before we started. I just didn’t understand what was what and what wasn’t in season to keep at first. We had an absolutely great time!

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

Yes, I highly recommend this trip. This trip would be a blessing to anyone looking for an exciting boat ride out to sea, and looking for some serious fishing. The waves are huge, and the scenery is breathtaking.

The fishing is for real, so if you don’t want to use some muscle reeling them in, you should pick a shorter trip, in my opinion. However, I have gone through cancer treatment this year, and this trip is a celebration to say good-bye to 2020!
