The Activity we Experienced

What we chose to do

We Saw a Huge Stingray Just Inches Away

How did you discover this activity?

I first found Try Scuba Diving when I searched google for fun things to do near Panama City Beach. After some further investigation, I found a great deal on TripShock!

When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

We booked the day before the activity so we knew we wouldn’t get rained out.

Why did you choose this activity?

My boyfriend and I have been looking into becoming PADI certified scuba divers. When we read that we could do this tour without being certified, it was a slam dunk! This tour was a great way to learn the basics of scuba and see real sea life up close, which was so worth it.

How did you get to the activity location?

The state park was about a half an hour away by car. We also had to pay $8 to get into the park itself, but it was worth it as we drove through the park after our tour and saw several other forms of wildlife.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

Our instructor was so knowledgeable and helpful! I was a little apprehensive when we first got in the water, but he checked on me every couple of minutes and always made sure I was comfortable with what we were doing. He even gave us a shell he had found while diving!

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

Colton and I were able to hold a sea urchin as well as a sea slug. I could even feel the urchin moving as I held it! We saw countless fish, some transparent, some entirely black, and even a zebra fish! We also saw a stingray only inches from us. It was terrifying yet amazing. Our instructor took nearly twenty amazing videos of us holding sea life, us with fish surrounding us, and others of interesting fish we saw along the way.

Because of this trip, Colton and I will become certified scuba divers and have the chance to give in many places around the country and hopefully around the world.

Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone thinking about becoming a certified scuba diver. Also, anyone who has tried snorkeling in the past and would like a more involved experience, or anyone wanting to take a closer look at the sea life Florida offers! I wouldn’t recommend it to people who are claustrophobic or people who have anxiety as the experience can be scary and very overwhelming at times.
